July 28, 2023 (Toronto, ON) - On the heels of his 2023 CCMA award nominations, multi-platinum, JUNO Award winning artist Brett Kissel unveils his swing-ready new single "Missin' You In San Antone," the lead track from West Album. Fans can anticipate the full album to drop later this fall. Listen to "Missin' You In San Antone" HERE. West Album will bring to life one of Kissel’s truest musical and thematic loves – traditional country and western music. It dives into the tales and topics that have been the lifeblood of country music since the beginning – love, loss, and the land. The lead single, “Missin’ You in San Antone” is an upbeat, country-swing number with incredible instrumental accompaniment that details the story of a lost love and hopes of reigniting an old flame. The song brilliantly showcases the classic fiddle strings played by Tyler Vollrath, a recipient of the esteemed CCMA Hall of Honour award and a long-standing band member of over two decades. Vollrath, who has been touring with Brett Kissel since the artist was only 12 years old, has made significant contributions to many of Kissel's albums. However, this "super-country" album, with its first Western-swing single, truly highlights the immense talent of both Kissel's band and Kissel himself. Kissel spoke on the release of the new single, saying “I’ve been in love with what we’d call ‘classic country swing’ since forever. I’ve always wanted to write and record something that sounded like a George Strait song. The melody, the captivating fiddle and piano, and the way it all comes together with lyrics that tell the classic story of yearning for a lost love - that’s quintessential, heartfelt, toe-tappin’, classic country…and that is ‘Missin’ You in San Antone.’” At the top of 2023, Kissel embarked his most ambitious endeavour yet with The Compass Project - a four-part album experience that showcases various themes, and Kissel’s versatility as a musician and songwriter. The project's first album South Album showcases Kissel's signature style of commercial country hits, including the lead track "Never Have I Ever" which has amassed over ten million global streams and continues to climb the charts at Canadian country radio. This spring, he released East Album, a collection of stripped down, heartfelt, acoustic songs that was inspired by Kissel's love of Canada's east coast, and features a new level of emotional depth in his songwriting. After the compass swings to the West Album later this fall, Kissel will unveil his North Album, filled with live recordings of Kissel performing his greatest hits across Canada.
